The Local Government Commission for England (LGCE) is charged with the task of reviewing the electoral arrangements of every principal local authority area in England.

The overridding aim of a Periodic Electoral Review (PER) is that ensure that, withing each district council area, the number of electors represented by each councillor is about the same.
