M25 Junction 3 to 4Copy of a letter from the Highways Agency to Shoreham Parish Clerk dated 11th Janaury 2008
Dear Mrs Idle
M25 JUNCTION 3 TO 4 Thank you for your letter of 7th January 2008 regarding resurfacing in both directions between junctions 3 and 4. We do have a scheme in our forward programme of major maintenance works to resurface the M25 between junctions 3 and 4. This did have a provisional implementation date for the Financial Year 2009/10, but this was only ever subject to the availability of funding. Every year we prioritise all schemes on our forward programme against available budgets to determine which schemes can be implemented in the coming Financial Year. As part of this exercise we also consider the programming impacts to other schemes on our forward programme. Following the most recent value management exercise the provisional implementation date for the works between junctions 3 and 4 has slipped back to the 2010/11 Financial Year, however, this is still subject to the availability of funding. In the short term, the carriageway is regularly inspected for any wear or faults. Where resurfacing is required for emergency repairs and patching, a low noise surface will be used. I can assure you that when the major resurfacing takes place between junctions 3 and 4 a low noise surface will be used. I am sorry if this is disappointing news, but I hope that you will appreciate the need to prioritise major maintenance schemes to ensure the strategic road network remains safe and available for use by the travelling public. Yours sincerely Anna Whiteman Area 5 South |
