Proposed Housing Scheme for the Rock and Fountain Car Park
A developer is looking at developing the defunct Rock and Fountain car park.
They have not yet sought planning permission but have produced a sample plan (380 Kbyte download) for Shoreham Parish Council.
The following is an extract from an email sent to Shoreham Parish Council
Subject:
Land to the rear of the Former Rock and Fountain Public House, West Hill
With reference to the above Banner Homes Southern Ltd are currently looking at the potential of a small mix of housing on the site replacing the unused extensive car parking area associated with the public house.
Clearly located within the green belt there are considerable restrictions imposed on such a site however it does seem a considerable waste of land on an area which is wholly hard surfaced yet remains unused. There would be some affordable housing on the site and some further dwellings at the lower end of the market place to meet local need.
We are advised that the parish council may support such a form of re-development on the site however we are uncertain as to whether this is indeed the case.
We would be very willing to meet with the parish council to discuss a possibility of low key re-development however if your support was not forthcoming we would not pursue the site any further.
I look forward to hearing from the parish in due course.
Shoreham Parish Council's Planning Committee meeting on the 1st May had an agenda item of
"An email [see above] has been received for members to consider …".
At that meeting the Committee's decision was to defer discussion on the email to the next Planning Meeting on 15 May 2013.
The meeting on Wednesday 15th May is at Shoreham Village Hall.
Please contact the clerk for the time of the committee meeting - it will be at, or after 7:30pm.
